Organizational Structure

Governance Framework
Imperial College of Engineering follows a well-defined and transparent organizational structure that ensures effective governance, academic autonomy, and administrative efficiency.

The organizational structure of Imperial College of Engineering is designed to ensure effective governance, academic excellence, administrative efficiency, and holistic student development. Guided by the vision and values of Santoshimata Bahuddeshiy Shaikshnik Sewa Sanstha, the structure promotes transparency, accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement at every level of the institution. This well-defined framework enables smooth coordination between academic, administrative, and support systems, ensuring that institutional goals are achieved in alignment with regulatory requirements and industry expectations.
1. Governing Body (Trust / Management)
At the apex of the organizational structure is the Governing Body, constituted by the management of Santoshimata Bahuddeshiy Shaikshnik Sewa Sanstha. The Governing Body is responsible for: Defining the vision, mission, and long-term strategic direction of the institution Ensuring compliance with statutory, regulatory, and affiliating authorities Approving major academic, financial, and infrastructure decisions Monitoring institutional performance and quality benchmarks The Governing Body plays a pivotal role in maintaining the academic integrity and societal purpose of the college.
2. Chairman / Secretary / Management Representatives
The Chairman, Secretary, and management representatives act as a bridge between the Governing Body and the college administration. Their responsibilities include: Translating the trust’s vision into actionable institutional policies Providing leadership, guidance, and support to the Principal Overseeing administrative efficiency and financial discipline Encouraging innovation, expansion, and industry-oriented initiatives Their leadership ensures stability, growth, and ethical governance.
3. Principal
The Principal is the chief academic and administrative officer of the college and holds overall responsibility for institutional functioning. The Principal: Leads academic planning, implementation, and evaluation Coordinates with management, faculty, students, and external stakeholders Ensures quality teaching–learning processes and outcome-based education Oversees accreditation, compliance, and continuous improvement initiatives Promotes research, innovation, and faculty development The Principal plays a central role in fostering a culture of excellence, discipline, and inclusivity.
4. Academic Administration Deans
They assist the Principal in academic planning and monitoring. Their responsibilities include: Curriculum planning and academic scheduling Monitoring academic performance and learning outcomes Coordinating inter-departmental academic activities Supporting implementation of institutional academic policies Heads of Departments (HODs) Each academic department is led by a Head of Department who is responsible for: Effective delivery of the curriculum Faculty coordination and workload distribution Laboratory development and maintenance Student mentoring, projects, and academic progress Departmental planning, reviews, and reporting HODs ensure academic quality and discipline within their respective departments.
5. Faculty Members
Faculty members form the backbone of the institution. They are responsible for: Classroom teaching and laboratory instruction Student mentoring and academic counseling Project guidance, research, and innovation activities Curriculum enrichment and continuous evaluation Participation in institutional development activities Faculty members actively contribute to the intellectual, professional, and ethical development of students.
6. Administrative Office
The Administrative Office supports the academic system by managing day-to-day operations. It includes: Office Superintendent / Registrar Accounts and Finance Section Admission and Examination Section Establishment and Records Section The administrative team ensures smooth functioning of admissions, examinations, payroll, documentation, and statutory compliance.
7. Support Services and Technical Staff
Support services play a vital role in maintaining academic and campus operations. These include: Laboratory Assistants and Technicians Library Staff IT and Computer Support Team Maintenance, Security, and Housekeeping Staff Their contribution ensures a safe, efficient, and resource-rich learning environment.
8. Statutory and Non-Statutory Committees
To promote good governance and inclusive decision-making, the institution has various committees such as: Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) Academic Advisory Committee Examination Committee Anti-Ragging Committee Grievance Redressal Committee Internal Complaints Committee (ICC) Training & Placement Committee Discipline and Student Welfare Committees These committees ensure transparency, quality assurance, student safety, and continuous institutional development.
9. Student Representation
Students are encouraged to actively participate in institutional activities through: Student Council Class Representatives Departmental Associations Cultural, Sports, and Technical Committees Student participation helps develop leadership skills, responsibility, and a sense of belonging.
